Springfield, Mo. - Incoming Mizzou Basketball standout Marcus Denmon (Kansas City, Mo./Hogan Prep HS) scored a game-high 25 points, grabbed seven boards and dished five assists to lead the Missouri Blue squad to a 89-75 win in the Class 1-3 Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame All-Star game hosted Friday evening at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo.
Denmon was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, adding to his impressive list of accolades this season. In addition to averaging 28.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game as a senior, the Kansas City, Mo., native was named the state MVP (all-class) by Max Preps.com, earned all-state recognition from the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association and was presented with the prestigious DiRenna Award in April as the Kansas City Metro Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3 guard also led Hogan Prep to a third place finish in the Missouri Class 3 State Championships in March and was elevated to No. 88 on Scout.com recruiting guru Eric Bossi’s Top 100 national players list.
Known for his tenacity and hard-nosed style of play, Denmon opened the game with three consecutive three-pointers to help his team to an early 9-2 lead. His squad eventually expanded that lead to 25-14 by the end of the first quarter and cruised to the 14-point victory.
